DataDive is a personal project. I write about things that interest me and that I can check in public data: how the electricity market behaves, what is behind the numbers of big companies, how countries and rich people compare, now and then cars, sport or culture.

It started with electricity prices and it still is a big part of the site. The topics are wider now, and the rule is the same everywhere: if I cannot find the number, I do not write it.

What you will find here

  • Electricity and energy: day-ahead prices and generation for European bidding zones, with 15-minute values, and longer studies that explain what the numbers mean.
  • Companies and technology: how a company makes and spends its money, for example Nvidia, Anthropic or Stellantis, from the figures the companies and regulators publish.
  • Economy and the world: GDP, military spending, arms exports and the richest people of every country, in charts and in video.
  • Cars, sport and culture: whatever I find interesting and can support with data.
  • Tools: small things I build, such as the file converter, which runs in your browser.
  • Videos: most articles have a video version on YouTube.

How the numbers are made

All figures come from public sources, and each article names them. Where two sources disagree, I show both instead of choosing one. Estimates are marked as estimates. If something is not in the data, I say so instead of guessing.

Research behind the electricity articles

I am a PhD student working on electricity markets and renewable energy. Peer-reviewed work in the same area; the second and third items deal directly with capture rates:
